Spring Skiing

It would appear that spring is here. Though it may be a bit earlier than expected, there’s still snow on the ground and more in the forecast!

Join us for a series of March Pop-Up Clinics and the annual Biathlon Expo before we ramp up and end strong with The Grand Traverse and, of course, the Beer Ski.

If you haven’t made it out to the Magic Meadows Yurt yet, don’t miss out on KBUT Bingo!

If you’re curious, check out the Kilometer Krush Leaderboard. Some strong numbers are being posted from all corners of the CB Nordic trail system. The competition ends TOMORROW!

Now, all that’s left to do is get out and ski. Make the most of the last month of gliding season.

Season Passes and Retail Inventory

Get unlimited skiing for the remainder of the season! Pass prices for the 24/25 season are now just $200 - and $170 for seniors. You can purchase a pass online or in person at The Nordic Center. Make the most of this March snow! Be advised that this is not a pre-sale on passes for the 2025/2026 season.

We're also having our annual spring sale! Most inventory is discounted by 20%, including apparel, waxes, gloves, hats, glasses, and more. If you've been thinking about a new pair of ski pants, some spring-weight gloves, or want to stock up on waxes for next year, now is the time.

Biathlon Expo

This Saturday, March 8th!

The Biathlon Expo is back! Join us this weekend and try out this exciting sport.

Regulation .22 Rifle Clinic | 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Life rifle session on the G.B. Loop. Trail passes are required. Allow 30-45 minutes to get to the site.

Biathlon Infrared Rifle Spring on Ruthie’s Run Spring Course
Adult Sprint Race | 1:00 p.m.
Youth Sprint Race | 1:30 p.m.

Biathlon Try-It Event | 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Free event for all. Try your luck and learn more about our infrared rifles and the sport of Biathlon from our knowledgeable coaches. Trail passes and skis or snowshoes are required. Meet in the Stadium on Ruthie’s Run.

Upcoming March Pop-Up Clinics

Technique Clinics
Work with our PSIA-certified instructors, bring your questions, enjoy the camaraderie, and learn new technique tips while skiing. All sessions meet at The Gronk at 10:30 a.m. and run 90 minutes. Clinics are $20 each. Register by 5 p.m. the night before. Sessions must meet a minimum of 3 skiers to be held. Pick the sessions that match your schedule.

Classic - Tuesday, March 11th
Skate - Tuesday, March 18th and Tuesday, March 25th

FREE Equipment Clinic
Ready to purchase nordic equipment? Whether you are purchasing your first pair of skis and boots or want to explore new options, this session is for you - classic or skate.

Join us Tuesday, March 11th at 2 p.m. in The Outpost at the Nordic Center. This 75-minute clinic will provide guidance based on your skills and goals for spring and next season.

It’s Grand Traverse Season

You may have heard that we’re planning a little ski race to Aspen! The 27th annual Grand Traverse Ski is right around the corner, with festivities starting Friday, March 28th, and continuing through the weekend. So, we’re once again looking for some volunteers to help us make this feat a reality. Join us for the following positions:

• Tracker/Garmin Distribution

• Gear Bag Loading

• Beacon Check

• Pre-Race Bib Check

Yurt Bistro

Going strong through March 23rd.

We've got three more Sunday Bistros for you this season. Stop by the Magic Meadows Yurt from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Sundays through March 23rd for pastries and other treats, hot drinks, local coffee, and soup next to a warm fire or out on the sunny deck. Grab your skis and trail pass, and head on out to the yurt.

Crust Season

Respect Private Land

Just a few reminders as we make our way into spring skiing conditions. Please remember to stay on groomed trails when using the CB Nordic trail system. The majority of our trails are on private land, so any off-trail exploration likely means trespassing in someone’s backyard or violating the rules of conserved land. The crust skiing in the mornings is tempting, but please be sure to explore on public lands.

Dog owners, remember to keep dogs under control on trails where dogs are allowed, and always pick up that poo and carry it with you. Unclaimed poo pollutes our delicate ecosystems and creates headaches for staff and cat drivers.

Finally, remember to be observant when recreating on local lands. Make decisions that are safe for you and your crew, no matter where you are. Respect wildlife, big and small. Have fun, be safe, and be smart out there.
