Crested Butte Nordic is a nonprofit organization that grooms 55 km of winter trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, rents ski and snowshoe equipment, delivers nordic ski programs for youth and adults, and hosts events, including The Alley Loop Nordic Marathon and the Grand Traverse Ski, Run, & Mountain Bike. Position: Nordic Center Associate
Reports To: Nordic Center Manager
Salary: $21/hour, non-exempt
Hours of Work: Negotiable (15-30 hours/week preferred) mid-November-MarchJob Description: The Nordic Center Associates serve as daily representatives of Crested Butte Nordic's mission and support guests throughout their experience with the Crested Butte Nordic Center. Associates will collaborate with instructors, service techs, volunteers, and managers to support the daily operations at CBN. Providing exemplary customer service to both internal and external customers is a top priority.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Distribute season passes
Fit and fulfill rental reservations
Sell day passes, lessons, tours, and merchandise
Answer customer questions and provide information about CB Nordic’s offerings
Proficiently use software systems including Salesforce, Square, Google Drive, etc…
Maintain access to the Nordic Center, including, but not limited to, shoveling outside entryways and stairs in and out of the Nordic Center
Clean staff and retail areas daily
Fulfill Ice Skate rentals as needed
Organize merchandise and rental gear daily
Provide exemplary customer service to both guests and internal staff
Provide accurate information about the Nordic Center’s trails, equipment, and merchandise to guests
Support with pre and end-of-season set-up and tear-down of the Nordic Center area, including, but not limited to, counting inventory, cleaning, and storing items
Complete pre-season training as required
Wax rental skis in collaboration with the Service Techs as needed (training will be provided)
Collaborate with all other departments, including instructors, groomers, and administrative staff
Preferred Skills/Prerequisites:
Experience in using software systems such as Salesforce, Square, Google Drive, etc…
Minimum one year experience in a retail setting preferred
Minimum of two years of experience in a customer service role preferred
Nordic or other winter sports experience preferred

Position: Service Technician
Reports To: Service Technician Supervisor
Salary: $21/ hour, non-exempt
Hours of Work: November-April, part-time, flexible schedule. 10-25 hours/week availableJob Description: Our Service Technicians are an incredibly important part of the Crested Butte Nordic team. The Service Technician will complete Nordic ski service efficiently and expertly to help maintain our guest, team, and rental equipment at the highest level. The ideal candidate will have ski service experience, but training is available for those who are technically apt and motivated to learn. Schedule is flexible and will be coordinated via the Service Technician Supervisor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Service Nordic skis, including waxing, scraping, brushing skis, installing bindings on skis and rollerskis, cutting poles to size, and maintaining pole grips and straps.
Repair Nordic rental ski equipment and/or document damage for warranty claims
Communicate with customers and answer questions as needed when receiving skis or other gear for service
Follow procedures while creating and updating accurate, well-documented work orders throughout the service process
Monitor customer work orders to ensure timely completion.
Initiate prompt and accurate communication with customers in the event of delays.
Collaborate with Nordic Center Manager, Supervisors and Associates to ensure a seamless intake and communication process for services items
Assist Nordic Center Associates, Instructors, Supervisors and Volunteers with technical questions from guests
Track inventory of supplies taken from merchandise shelves
Support with Alley Loop wax orders and waxing in the day(s) leading up to the Alley Loop
Support end of season storage wax for rental fleet
Preferred Skills/Prerequisites:

Magic Meadow Yurt Staff

Position: Magic Meadows Yurt Guide & Server
Reports To: Nordic Center Manager
Base Salary: $28/hr, non-exempt
Hours of Work: December- March, Part-time. Dinner shifts are generally 4-10 PM, with 1-3 shifts/week. Evening and weekend work are required. More shifts are available during holidays.Job Description: Magic Meadows Yurt Guide & Servers assist with all aspects of a guest’s Magic Meadows Yurt Dinner experience, which includes outfitting, driving, guiding, and serving in a fine dining backcountry setting. Guide/Server is responsible for supporting guests to and from the Magic Meadows yurt on Nordic skis and/or snowshoes in variable winter conditions. Above all other roles, exemplary customer service is expected.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Meet guests for Yurt Dinners at the Nordic Center to assist them with rental equipment and everything they need for a night at the Magic Meadows Yurt
Ensure all waivers are signed and collected from guests prior to departure
Drive guests in a CBN vehicle to the trailhead
Guide skiers and snowshoers out to the yurt for dinner, typically by headlamp
Upon arrival at the yurt, transition into the role as a server, working with Yurt Host/ess, the chef, and Yurt Operations Supervisor to serve drinks and dinner courses throughout the evening
Assist with clearing plates and bussing tables until guests depart
Guide guests back from the yurt to the vehicles, ensuring all guests are accounted for, and drive them back to the Nordic Center
Assist Nordic Center staff with putting away equipment and supplies at the end of the evening at the Outpost
Preferred Skills/Prerequisites:
Experience driving 15-passenger vans, preferably in varied winter conditions
Clean driving record
Current First Aid certification, or ability to obtain after hiring
Excellent communication skills
Minimum one year experience as a server in a fine dining setting preferred
Experience guiding/instructing/or leading others in an outdoor setting preferred
Minimum of two years of experience in a customer service role
Ability to Nordic ski and support others on varied trail conditions with variable light, including dark.

Position: Magic Meadows Yurt Host/ess
Reports To: Nordic Center Manager
Salary: $29/hr, non-exempt
Hours of Work: Mid-December- March. Hours are generally 1:30 PM -10:30 PM, with 1-3 shifts per week. Weekend and evening work is required. Extra holiday shifts are required.Job Description: The yurt host/ess is responsible for preparation, front of house set up and organization, serving, bartending, and supporting with clean up for any of the following CB Nordic hosted events: Magic Meadows Yurt Dinners and/or Trivia Nights and Yurt Bistro. The host/ess is a customer facing role, representing the Crested Butte Nordic Center at our fine dining and local evening experiences. The Host/ess has a lead role in supporting guides, the chef, and other contractors and employees to ensure a successful dinner at the Magic Meadows Yurt. Above all other roles, exemplary customer service and character are expected.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Create seating/table chart prior to each dinner
Assist the Yurt Operations Supervisor in gathering supplies necessary for each dinner, including but not limited to packing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, filling water containers, rags, and other necessary items
Mix featured cocktail from supplies and recipes provided prior to each dinner
Arrange tables at yurt according to seating assignments
Set tables
Calculate number and meal selections at each table for the chef
Coordinate guide/server roles upon their arrival
Serve drinks at the bar
Welcome guests with an overview of CB Nordic, CBLT, and introductions
Serve courses during dinner
Clean up front of house after dinner
Support Yurt Operations Supervisor, dishwasher, and the chef clean up and load the snowmobile at the end of the night
Ensure supplies are put away and tidy in Cat Barn prior to leaving
Communicate with NCM about supplies needed out at yurt in a timely manner
Assist NCM in maintaining an inventory of beer and wine
Uphold CB Nordic policies and procedures in a remote, backcountry setting
Ability to obtain Colorado Food Handler’s Certificate & TIPS certification prior to dinners
Collect and distribute tips as per CBN policy

Position: Yurt Operations Supervisor
Reports To: Nordic Center Manager
Salary: $28/hour, non-exempt
Hours of Work: 10-30 hours/week, pending Yurt Reservations. Mid-December-March, nights, weekends, and holiday work required.Job Description: The Yurt Operations Supervisors play an integral role in the Crested Butte Nordic staff and Magic Meadows Yurt Operations for the winter season. The Yurt Operations Supervisor is responsible for daily operations required for Yurt Dinner & Event preparations, transporting supplies to and from the yurt, and collaborating with team members to ensure a smooth flow throughout yurt events. The primary responsibilities of all Nordic Center Supervisors, above all other tasks, are providing exemplary customer service to internal and external customers and providing flexible support throughout daily operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate independently and collaboratively to fulfill needs at the yurt
Work with the second Yurt Operations Supervisor regarding division of needs for upcoming events, status of supplies, needs, etc…
Communicate yurt needs, including but not limited to supplies, food and beverages restocking, and other items to Nordic Center Manager and Operations Manager throughout the season
Drive snowmobile, trailer, tracked vehicle, and typical vehicles carrying supplies and staff and guests when needed on varying terrain and conditions
Prepare supplies for Yurt Dinners, Trivia Nights, Private Dinners, and other Yurt functions prior to each event and clean up post-events
Coordinate needs with renters of the yurt for private dinners, transport supplies, start fire, support the use of yurt kitchen, and clean up and transport supplies post-event
Speak knowledgeably about Crested Butte Nordic, partnerships, and upcoming events at dinners and events.
Clear snow from yurt area as needed before, during, and after events
Ensure lights are on and visible on route to yurt prior to guest arrival
Support chef and team as needed during dinners, including but not limited to serving, plating, dishwashing, cleaning, and bartending.
Exchange of propane tank from the Yurt via snowmobile as directed by Operations Manager
Ensure generator has gas needed for events
Clean up back of house after dinners, load snowmobile, and ensure Cat Barn is tidy prior to leaving
Support seasonal set-up and tear-down of the Yurt, including, but not limited to, cleaning, pulling items out of storage, and storing items at the end of the season
Model and provide exemplary customer service
Uphold CB Nordic policies and procedures in a remote, backcountry setting
Preferred Skills/Prerequisites:
Ability to drive snowmobile with trailer and vehicles on winter roads
Clean driving record
Excellent oral and written communication skills

CB Nordic Team Coaching Staff

Position: Crested Butte Junior Nordic Team Coach
Reports To: Youth Program Coordinator
Compensation: $50/session base rate
Hours of Work: Minimum of 2 sessions/week and up to 6 sessions a week at approximately 2.5 hours/sessionJob Description: We are hiring Youth Team Coaches for all ages, including K - 1st Grade, 2nd - 3rd Grade, 4th - 5th Grade, 6th - 8th Grade, Backcountry, Biathlon, and PreK - 3rd Grade Nordic Ski 4 PE. New coaches must commit to two or more sessions per week, working up to six sessions per week with a combination of groups. Coach time commitment is approximately 2.5 hours/session. Kindergarten through 3rd Grade sessions are January 6th - March 28th. 4th Grade - 8th Grade sessions are December 2nd - March 28th. Coaches should plan on attending pre-season training sessions in November and December.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coach youth sessions according to topics outlined in the group syllabus
Create a safe and positive environment for athletes and other coaches
Set measurable and attainable goals with athletes
Build relationships with athletes
Ensure athletes’ basic needs are met: safe, warm, dry
Be a superior role model for athletes
Use effective communication based on athlete’s age/developmental level
Have situational awareness to keep yourself and your group safe
Be on time for practices and coach meetings
Provide feedback to the Youth Programs Coordinator regarding lessons, your group’s progress throughout the season, and behavior or other challenges
Follow CBNT Policies and Procedures and the Coaches Manual
Report any incidents or accidents to the Youth Programs Coordinator
Promote racing opportunities to athletes and parents for youth after-school races, community series races, the Alley Loop, and other events
Occasionally ski with older/younger groups to develop team camaraderie and inclusion
Provide parents with tips to support their athletes
Share photos/videos with parents, Youth Program Coordinator, or marketing personnel
Attend pre-season coach trainings
Substitute for other coaches as needed
