Summer Solstice!

Time to start thinking about winter...

This longest day of the year marks the official start of summer. As we soak up this sun and regular afternoon rain (and sometimes snow), we can't stop thinking about what a fantastic winter season we had. All that snow is giving way to the most beautiful waves of wildflower super blooms moving up the valley. We're enjoying every second of the short Crested Butte summer, but we're also turning our sights toward winter at CB Nordic.

It seems hard to believe, but it's time to mark your calendars. On August 1st, Yurt Dinner bookings open. These fill up quickly, so keep this date in mind. On September 1st, Nordic Season Passes go on sale! Don't worry, we'll remind you again so you can take advantage of the early bird pricing. Finally, on September 7th, our Winter Program Registration opens.

As these dates near, a few details to note for this coming season - new this year for our steadfast supporters, The K Club, we're offering early Yurt Dinner registration opportunities at the Bronze Level. We've made a few more changes to the K Club benefits that you should check out. In other news, we will not be offering a traditional Thanksgiving Camp this year, but stay tuned for early-season offerings. With the Outpost construction moving ahead full steam, we'll temporarily have limited space and additional logistics to navigate as we transition into the winter season.

Speaking of transitions, we've had a lot of them over the last year, which is why we're taking the time to update our Strategic Plan. We want to do this in conjunction with you, our community.

And while you're in survey mode, remember to fill out the MetRec Recreational Survey before June 30th. All of our voices are important as we shape the future of recreation in our valley.

40th Annual Grin & Bear It
Nothing beats July singletrack!

Join us for Crested Butte's oldest trail race during this epic wildflower season. You can sign up for the 15k "sprint" up to Green Lake and back. Or, if you need a longer training race for the summer GT, sign up for the 25k loop through Baxter Gulch. Both races start and end at the Nordic Center. The races are filling up fast, so remember to sign up soon. If you're not running, we're looking for volunteers!

Strategic Planning
Let's do it together!

It's no secret that CB Nordic is growing and evolving. We have experienced an average of 10% growth annually for the last 10 years. Staffing has expanded rapidly to meet this increased demand. And last season we welcomed six new staff to our year-round team of seven.  As a nonprofit that exists for the community and because of the community, we are continually assessing our operations. To be the best we can be, we need your help in updating our Strategic Plan. Please consider taking 10 minutes of your day to complete our Strategic Planning Survey and be entered to with a free 2023-2024 season pass!

Outpost Update
There's a hole in the ground!

Our little corner of 2nd Street is bustling with construction activity. It's almost as loud as 150 kids gearing up for afterschool activities. The initial excavation work is wrapping up. The new utility lines are in and there's a big hole in the ground that will soon welcome a foundation, and eventually, the Outpost.
We'd love to give you a tour at our upcoming Outpost Celebration on Friday, August 11th. Join us from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm for toasts, bubbles, and light snacks.
