Registration is now open!

Early-Bird Pricing (25% off) through Nov. 24!

The Alley Loop is not your typical Nordic Marathon… It stands both as a premier American Birkebeiner Qualifying event, in addition to being Crested Butte’s most outrageous costume party of the year!  The course winds its way through snowy streets, alleyways and narrow bridges through the heart of downtown Crested Butte.  You’ll find yourself cheered by town revelers as you navigate a crazy gliding costume assemblage…  Racers are sometimes forced into making daring passes and depending on their luck, may even get waylaid on a bridge for a moment.  Once you make it through town, you are rewarded by pristine tracks and exhilarating vistas throughout the Crested Butte Nordic trail network.

If you like normal, you may want to look for another race.  If you are up for anything… this is right up your alley!

Crested Butte Nordic is excited to unveil a new team competition integrated into the 2022 Alley Loop!
The Nordic Club Clash (rules detailed below) is designed to promote inter-club camaraderie, forming six person teams across ski disciplines and athlete generations.
Beyond uniting diverse athlete squads towards a collective goal, this fun spirited competition will be made all the more more thrilling with a $11,100 Cash Purse up for grabs!

1st Place Team – $3,600
2nd Place Team – $3,000
3rd Place Team – $2,400
4th Place Team – $1,500
5th Place Team – $600

Competition Rules:

  • Teams will be scored across  the following six events –
    42K Skate, 42K Classic, 21K Skate, 21K Classic, 10K Freestyle & 5K Freestyle
  • Teams are scored ‘cross country running’ style, with points awarded on the basis of finishing place (overall category results).
Cumulative finish places across the six events will be tabulated to determine a team point score.
  • The team with the lowest point score will be the overall winner.
  • Teams must be precisely composed of 6 individual athletes, no more, no less.

  • A team does not need a formal Ski Club affiliation to compete.
As long as athletes register online citing the same team name, they will be registered into the team competition.
  • Clubs are permitted to form multiple teams out of their membership.
During registration, athletes belonging to the same club should identify their specific sub-team name.
  • Failure of an athlete to place in their event (DNF), will result in the team being disqualified.
  • Tie Break Rule – in the event of a tie score among one or more teams, the winning team will be determined by the fastest 5K finish time.
