Lesson Offerings
Lessons will give you the skills and confidence to venture out on your own and embrace the sport of cross-country skiing. All lessons are private and tailored to your goals and skill level.
All lessons are private and 75 minutes in length

Trail pass and rental gear are included
$145 for one person, $75 for each additional person
Adult lessons are offered daily at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.

Private lessons for all adults from never-ever to advanced racers. More joy, less frustration. Our team of PSIA-certified instructors will make it fun and easy. Whether you want to learn classic or skate, we will enhance your confidence and technique, allowing you to enjoy your time on the trails. Never-evers should opt for a classic ski lesson to build a strong foundation. Learning the basics of skate skiing is typically a multi-day, multi-lesson process due to new body mechanics developed for efficient gliding.
CB Nordic Lesson Punch Card. Craft your skills throughout the season. Lesson Punch Cards include three lessons and are $290 (A savings of $145). Each lesson is for one skier, including equipment rental and a trail pass. Punch Cards are non-transferable and must be used by the same skier. Lesson Punch Cards expire at the end of the season purchased. Punch Cards can be purchased at the Nordic Center.

Let our children’s specialist instructors get your kids moving on the trails. With a focus on fun, your kids from 5 to 16 years old will be ready to ski with skill and confidence. First-timers welcome! Youth lessons should be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.

Learning to ski is fun for the whole family and the perfect vacation activity! Any combination of adults and kids, ages 5 and up, are welcome. Family lessons should be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.
Tour Offerings
Snowshoe or ski into the deep quiet of the spruce forests and through sparkling meadows ringed with peaks. Hear the calls of birds and burbling streams under ice. Treasure-hunt for ermine and snowshoe hare tracks.
Local guides introduce you to our natural and cultural history as you move through the wild and magical world of winter in the backcountry. Our private tours are a beautiful, peaceful, and safe immersion into nature, tailored just for you.

If you can walk, you can snowshoe. Our experienced and friendly guides will take you safely into the backcountry around Crested Butte for a unique winter adventure. With half and full-day options, the ultimate winter vacation experience awaits. After you book, your guide will work with you to customize your tour.

Full-day tours are 5 hours. Epic tours are 7 ½ hours in length and start at 9 a.m. These tours are challenging but rewarding, and our guides will manage the pace and terrain to your ability. Calories will be burnt—bring plenty of snacks. Cost: 5-hour tour — $275 for one person, $137.50 for each additional person. 7 ½ hour tour — $380 for one person, $190 for each additional person.

Backcountry Nordic touring is the ultimate winter vacation experience. With half and full-day options and a variety of terrain available, our friendly and experienced guides will lead you on a unique adventure. After you book, your guide will work with you to customize your tour.

Learn to Skate Free!
We’re thrilled to offer another season of Learn to Skate Free lessons. Our favorite thing in the world is helping people get out on snow to enjoy the magical world of nordic skiing, and we know that a little instruction is the best way to get you gliding and loving this sport as much as we do.
These sessions are 60 minutes long and will give you an introduction to skate skiing. Sessions are designed for Never-Ever skate skiers. Instruction and equipment are included in this offer. All sessions will be conducted at the Nordic Center Practice Area.

All lessons will be held on Thursdays at noon.
December 11th | December 18th | January 8th | January 15th | January 22nd | February 5th | February 19th
Lesson and Tour Details
We pride ourselves on being the best learn-to-ski school in the country. Our team is ready and excited to give you an engaging, fun, and safe learning experience. Please note that ski tours are not lessons and are designed for people with some XC ski experience.
Reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Lessons and clinics have limited space, so be sure to reserve early.
If you find yourself wanting to add to your Nordic Experience we will take “day of” lesson requests 1.5 hours prior to sessions based on instructor availability. Blackout days for day of lesson requests – November 28-30, 2025; December 24, 2025 - January 4, 2026; January 18-19, 2026; and February 14-16, 2026. No lessons will be able to be scheduled for January 31, 2026.
You may request a specific instructor or guide for your session. If they are not available at the requested time, we will contact you with alternatives.
We will try to accommodate reservation changes when possible but cannot guarantee staff availability.
Participants must be at least 5 years of age.
Cancellation Policy: Lessons canceled 24 hours or more in advance will receive a full refund. Lessons canceled within 24 hours will not receive a refund.
