Trail Report for Sunday, 1/3/16

Wow!  So Warm!  0 degrees F at 7:30 am!!  We have nearly clear skies, and the projected high is a tropical 28 degrees and mostly sunny.

We are grooming all the open trails as I write (Mordor, Middle Earth and the Skyland Connector/Loops are still closed), so skiing is fabulous!

Today is our Backcountry Bistro!  From 10 am – 2 pm we offer hot and cold drinks, sweet and savory pastries, and soup in the Magic Meadows Yurt.  So grab some cash and your trail pass, ski or snowshoe out, and enjoy a lovely repast by the warm fires and camaraderie of others in the yurt.

Also today at 3 pm, we are holding the first race in the Gunnison Valley Kid’s Series here on the bench above the nordic center.  It is open to all, age 14 and younger.  If you’re not that young, come cheer them on!

On Friday, January 8th, we are participating in the attempt to make the Guinness Book of World Records by holding the largest collective ski lesson across the country!!  It shall be at 10 am at the nordic center, focused on beginning to intermediate classic, and to sweeten the deal, will be half price!!  Come learn to ski and be part of this momentous undertaking!
