Trail Report for Friday, 3-25-16

9 months until Christmas!  With bruised clouds momentarily clearing over the peak of Crested Butte, we open our day with a 1 1/2 inch blizzard and a 7:30 am temperature of 25 degrees.   The forecasted high is 32, with 1-2 more inches of snow possible.

We have groomed the west side, except the GB Loop, and are grooming Ruthie’s Run as I write.   Much of the west side will have 1 inch of snow on the grooming, but the skiing should still be great.  If you ski the east side, use caution, as the snow is covering up some areas of dirt that could be dangerous.  For the most up to date grooming information please visit our visual trail report.

At midnight is the start of the Grand Traverse, when we send off more than 600 athletes to cover the grueling 40 miles from Crested Butte to Aspen.  Good luck to all!

Easter Sunday is just 3 days away!  We will be holding a group Easter Egg Hunt via skis and snowshoes at 10:00 am right here at the nordic center.  Clues are also available throughout the day for more individual hunts or for those who can’t make it at 10.  As always, kid’s rental skis and snowshoes are free.
