Trail Report for Friday, 1-22-16

At 7:30 am, we have a temperature of 0 degrees with a projected high of 34 and sunny skies.

Mordor is open!  Our trail system is complete.  Being Mordor, however, the 2 steep hills have hazards – the black sorcerers have thrown down rocks and grooming is difficult so use extreme caution!  It is only for the intrepid, though the boulder gardens are glorious as the sun sets.  We have groomed the entire west side, Ruthie’s Run and Town Ranch – all else is in fabulous shape.  It is some of the best skiing of the season, buttery and smooth.  We again apologize, our visual trail report results are finicky at best and leave out some of the grooming.

We have our last in the Alley Loop Race Series tomorrow, Saturday January 23, a 10/20 km skate race starting at Magic Meadows.  Registration will be over there starting at 8 am, with the kids races of 1, 3 and 5 km going off at 9:30 and the adult race at 10 am.

Come take a guided ski or snowshoe tour with us!  We have fascinating and fun guides who lead you to the hidden gems in the wildlands around Crested Butte.  Tours start at 9:30 am, go to about noon and are $65 each for a group tour.  Call (970) 349-1707 to book.
