Crested Butte Avalanche Center and the CAIC have issued an Avalanche Warning. Mike’s Mile and Paradise Park are closed until further notice. If we meet or exceed snowfall forecasts, travel out Peanut Lake road could become dangerous and travel beyond the Gronk is discouraged. The CBAC reports: Travel in or below avalanche terrain is not recommended today. Natural avalanches will become likely and human triggered avalanches will become very likely if we meet or exceed snowfall forecasts. Be aware of any and all overhead hazard if you do go into the backcountry today and choose to play with the beast. Visibility will be limited due to the incoming storm and will make navigating terrain difficult and could allow you to walk into or underneath terrain that you intended to avoid.

With heavy snow and winds today, most of our grooming efforts will be filled in immediately, as will your own tracks. If you choose to go out on the Nordic trails, check the avalanche report, know your limits and expect primitive conditions. Thanks and be safe out there!
