GROOMER'S NOTE

The snow dances have worked! The snow is coming down this morning and is expected to continue throughout the day. Ruthies Run was groomed early this morning and everything else was groomed last night. Mike’s Mile remains closed due to avalanche debris and now avalanche risk.

See message below from the Crested Butte Avalanche Center. As the snow accumulates and the Avalanche Danger goes to HIGH tomorrow, we do not recommend travel on Peanut Lake Road beyond the Gronk.

Ruthie’s Run is a great place to ski when the snow is falling!

From the Crested Butte Avalanche Center:

An Avalanche Watch is in effect. Which means we expect the avalanche danger to rise to HIGH at multiple elevations tomorrow. For Friday, the avalanche danger is rated HIGH at above treeline elevations.
There is an Avalanche Watch in effect for the mountains around Crested Butte.  Expect strong winds and intense snowfall Friday and Saturday to increase the avalanche danger to HIGH (Level 4 of 5). Large and dangerous avalanches will be easy to trigger and will run naturally during periods of intense snowfall. HIGH danger is expected to expand to all elevations by Saturday evening.
