It's Time to Ski

Trails Update

Ruthie’s Run on the Bench is open for both skate and classic skiing, as well as snowshoeing. Trail passes are required up there. We are trying to manage snow coverage, so expect to see grooming every couple days. It’s also still early season, so watch out for ice, rocks, and grass as it gets warm, but it’s skiing very well in the trees. Our grooming permit for Lily Lake was for Thanksgiving Camp, so grooming has ceased at Lily Lake. The County has also stopped plowing Kebler Pass road, but you can still ski out from the winter closure if that suits your fancy

COVID Procedures Update

Thanks to everyone who came skiing with us over Thanksgiving weekend! With record numbers, it was the first big test of our new 2020-2021 systems. Please remember to reserve your rental gear online in advance. This will take you about 10 minutes at home, and save you about 30 minutes at the Nordic Center. Some tweaks to Gearo (our online rental software): you no longer need to select poles on Gearo. We’ll help you select these in person. If you have a specific size you want, feel free to put it in the Notes section when you check out. We also deleted the pick-up and drop-off times so you just put in the day. Thanks for your patience as we adopt these new systems. They will be the key to keeping everyone safe and keeping us open this winter.

Masters Starts This Week

Our Masters Community clinics start this week. If you’re registered for them, make sure you’re getting our weekly Masters updates via email at the start of the week. Sometimes the emails get shunted off to a Spam or Promotions folder. Be sure to search your inbox for [email protected] and add that email address to your contacts. These are critical updates, as they tell you where you’re meeting each week and what to expect.

Grand Traverse Ski, Run, & Bike Registration is Open

Given the weirdness of 2020 and the uncertainty ahead, we’re doing something different for GT Registration this year. All registrations are for a provisional wait-list, so you can sign up and you don’t put any money down. Once we have a firmer idea what shape these races will take, we’ll give you a chance to convert your wait-list spot to a full registration. If you’re trying to imagine what 2021 will look like, consider pre-registering for the GT so you have something to look forward to! We do anticipate the GT Ski will be full with a wait-list, as in past years. Registration is open now.

First Citizens Race is Coming Up December 12

Join us for the first race in the Alley Loop Race Series on Saturday, December 12 up on the Bench. You can choose a 5K or 10K Skate. Masks and social distancing are mandatory; in addition, we’ll be having interval starts to spread everyone out. Pre-registration is required. Visit cbnordic.org to learn more and to register.
