Opening Day - November 11th

Two weeks left to get a discounted season pass!

It snowed! It feels like we’ve been writing about the coming of winter for weeks now, but it’s here – at least first winter is here. We all took the opportunity to put skis on last week and revel in the beauty of snow under our feet with golden leaves overhead. It sure is a special time in Crested Butte.

As usual, we’re looking forward to grooming to Lily Lake just as soon as the snow allows. Be sure to check the Crested Butte Nordic website and social media channels for up to date trail information. Please remember that all nordic trails remain closed until grooming officially begins. Our trails are made possible through easements and public land agreements. Respect for trail closures allows us to continue to groom all 55km of trail into the future.

The Nordic Center opens to the public on November 11th. We’ll be ready to print your season pass, give you a new sticker for your old pass, and share our retail collection for this winter season. In the meantime, get involved with the Annual Potluck, bridge days, and plenty of registrations to keep the winter stoke strong.

Volunteers help lay planks for bridges.

Annual Potluck

Work up an appetite with Bridge Days!

Join us for the Annual Potluck. We’ll be gathering at the Nordic Center on Friday, October 20th from 5 pm – 7 pm. Bring a dish to share, a plate, utensils, and a cup. We’ll provide the beer. This year we’ll be joined by Jake Jones of the Crested Butte Land Trust to talk about the intersection of outdoor recreation and wildlife in our valley.

The recent snow means it’s time to build the bridges and we need all the hands we can get. Please join us on Friday, October 20th or Saturday, October 21st. Meet at the Nordic Center at 8:30 am. Bring a water bottle, snack, work clothes, tall waterproof boots or old waders, and a smile. We’ll provide lunch. Please RSVP if you can join us.

The Outpost

Look at those stairs!

We’re dried in, just in time to welcome the snow! With the interior walls framed, it’s becoming easier to see the community and ourselves in the new space. We are on track for a January completion and look forward to sharing more regular updates as the finishes bring another layer of life to the Outpost. As of this morning, we have $25k left to raise (that’s 50 $500 donations). Thank you for helping us grow into a brighter and better version of ourselves.
