Summer is on the Horizon
And we're still chugging...
We know, you’re ready to move on to summer. Believe it or not, so are we! While winter is of course our season, we keep on chugging through the summer. We plan and host our summer events, including the fast-approaching Grin & Bear It trail race and Summer Grand Traverse. We plan program offerings for the next winter, and we convene as a team to re-visit the list of challenges that come up over the winter to determine how we can improve next season. This summer we’ll be extra busy with the construction of the Outpost. Moving forward, you can read about the Outpost’s progress here in the Nordic News. Keep scrolling for the first Outpost Update!

Volunteer Appreciation Party
We want to celebrate YOU!
As a nonprofit, we rely on the support of volunteers throughout the year. We can’t thank you enough for the support you give us on the trails, at events, and around the Nordic Center. This year, 263 volunteers worked 1,250 hours to help us make it all happen! We hope you’ll join us for our Volunteer Appreciation Party.
The Depot – 716 Elk Avenue
Friday, June 9th
4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Please RSVP if you can make it.
Grin & Bear It
Join in the fun!
Looking for a mid-summer race? If you’re training for the GT or just want to run with a bunch of awesome people, register for the Grin & Bear It. Once again, we’ll be offering a 15k “sprint” to Green Lake and back. Or, if you need something a little longer, think about the 25k loop up and around through Baxter Gulch before heading to Green Lake and back down to the finish at the Nordic Center.

Outpost Update
It's finally happening!
Most summers around the Nordic Center are quiet, but things are about to get messy over here. The good kind of messy. You may have already noticed a few subtle changes, including the removal of some trees where the Outpost will be constructed, and a new location for the shed that holds our many trail signs. Starting this week, we will be digging in the dirt to install new utility lines. We look forward to keeping you posted on the progress!
Met Rec Survey
Give your input.
Gunnison County Metropolitan Recreation District (Met Rec) plays a big role in funding and shaping recreation throughout the Gunnison Valley, and they want you to be a part of it. Share your ideas and feedback by taking the Met Rec Recreation Survey. Your response will help guide Met Rec’s recreation grant funding and strategic planning decision-making. The survey is open until June 30th.
