It's Summer!

Time to Get Together

What a difference a year makes! We’re so excited that this summer we can finally get together. To kick things off right, we’re going to celebrate YOU and all the hard work you’ve done on behalf of CB Nordic. If you’ve volunteered for us in either 2019-20 or 2020-21, please join us for our Volunteer Appreciation Party. More info below.

Coming up in July, we’re holding the 38th Annual Grin & Bear It in person, with the classic 15k out-and-back course but also a new 25k loop course. Labor Day weekend the Summer GT will be rolling between Mt. Crested Butte and Aspen. These are great chances to volunteer or to race. Either way, you’re contributing to our CB Nordic community!

Happy running, hiking, biking, climbing, paddling, grilling, gardening, bench sitting, sunset watching, and whatever else your summer holds!

Volunteer Appreciation Party

June 30, 6 p.m., Rainbow Park

Did you volunteer with us this past winter or the one before? Last year we didn’t get to celebrate with you, so this year, we’re partying down double to say thank you for all your hard work. We could not pull off our events and programs without the dedicated support of volunteers like YOU! If you donated your time to CB Nordic (including the GT) in 2019-20 or 2020-21, please join us on Wednesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. at Rainbow Park. Complimentary dinner and beer served. Raffle to follow dinner! We need you to RSVP so we know how much food to provide.

Elevation Hotel & Spa

Featured June Sponsor

Elevation Hotel and Spa has been a supporter of CB Nordic for over five years. Whether it’s cash to support our programs or rooms to host our guests (like the timer for the Grand Traverse), the Elevation’s support has been critical in helping us host top-notch programs and events. They offer year-round luxury accommodations, right next to the CBMR base area. Their property features slope-side dining, a full-service spa, heated indoor pool, and three hot tubs–exactly what you want after a long day in the mountains. If you’re looking for a place to stay for the Summer GT, Elevation Hotel is just steps away from the Run start and the Bike finish.

Grin & Bear It

25K Loop or 15K Classic

Join us for the 38th Annual Grin & Bear It on July 24, starting from the Nordic Center. Historically presented as a sprint to Green Lake and back, this year we’re offering a 25k Loop competition, while still maintaining the traditional 15k Classic out-and-back race. This is a great way to get together and celebrate the return of summer events with our amazing CB Nordic community. Plus, every dollar raised goes to the CB Nordic Junior Team to help get more kids on skis!

What exactly do we do

all summer long?

CB Nordic works all year long to put together exceptional experiences in the outdoors for you. From spring to fall, we are engaged in evaluating and planning, in addition to hosting summer races. We look back at the season before, assessing what worked and what needs improvement. We look ahead, planning new programs and tweaking our systems. We look closely at our budget, examining each aspect of the organization to ensure we are stewarding resources responsibly. We clean equipment and data, repair skis and online forms, renovate spaces and documentsthe good “housecleaning” that is essential to running a responsible organization.

How You Can Help

You, too, can support CB Nordic year-round by tying your City Market card to CB Nordic, so that City Market makes a donation to CB Nordic every time you swipe your card. It costs you nothing! And together, those small donations add up to make a big difference in how we can serve you.

  1. Go to and sign in or create an account with your City Market card.
  2. Under “My Account,” navigate to Community Rewards on the left, and link your account to Crested Butte Nordic Center.

Ta Da! That’s it. Your impact starts immediately.
