Counting Down
Wring the Most Out of the Last Days of Winter
The Grand Traverse this weekend is one of the surest signs of spring around CB Nordic. We’re thrilled that we get to host this iconic event after last year’s hiatus. From deploying field teams to backcountry huts for 6 days to transporting finish line supplies to Aspen to dealing with last minute registration changes, right now we’re in constant motion to make the GT a success.
CB Nordic bought the GT in 2012 and has been hosting the race ever since. In addition to being in line with our values around the outdoors, adventure, and fitness, the GT is also our biggest fundraiser of the year. All of our events, but the Grand Traverse in particular, help support the other functions of our nonprofit so we can keep nordic skiing and snowshoeing accessible to more people.
As a nonprofit, CB Nordic strives to keep fees as low as possible while keeping quality as high a possible. That’s where you come in. When you participate in the GT, when you volunteer for the Junior Programs, when you make a gift to CB Nordic, you are supporting the health and wellbeing of our community.
There are a couple easy ways you can support us this spring and summer that require very little time and no money on your part. Check out the ReFUND Colorado and City Market Community Rewards Programs highlighted below. Please consider enrolling in these programs! They might not seem like much, but over time, these small contributions make a big difference. Just like each one of you!
Meanwhile, if you’re not GT-ing with us this weekend, we have a couple more ways you can wring the last drops out of winter. We’re offering 50% off lessons for season passholders and sales on our retail items starting April 1 (with Camp items on sale now in advance of the GT). Happy spring!
Reasons to Look Forward to Tax Day
ReFUND Colorado
Tax Day could be a big day for us. This year there’s a new Colorado program that allows you to support our work when you’re completing your state income tax return. If you get a state income tax refund, you can decide to give some or all to CB Nordic with just a few simple notations. Enter Crested Butte Nordic Council and our registration number, 20073006852, in the “Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund” line on your state income tax return or tax software – or just give this info to your tax preparer when you share your tax documents. That’s it!

City Market Community Rewards
Free for You, Big for Us
It might not seem like much, but these donations add up. Over the last year, City Market has generated over $1,000 in donations for CB Nordic, at no cost to you! They simply donate a portion of your purchases back to the community nonprofit of your choice. For this to work, you need to link your City Market card to our nonprofit.
- Go to CityMarket.com and sign in or create an account with your City Market card.
- Under “My Account,” navigate to Community Rewards on the left, and link your account to Crested Butte Nordic Center.
Ta da! Every time you use your City Market card a portion of your spend will go back to CB Nordic.
Coldwell Banker Mountain Properties
March Featured Sponsor
Our featured March sponsor is Coldwell Banker Mountain Properties! Thanks to their support, we were able to pull off another successful Alley Loop and to expand our rental fleet. Broker/Owner Molly Eldridge really walks the walk (or should we say, skis the ski?): you can spot her out on the trails regularly, and you’ll almost always catch her in the Alley Loop! Thank you to Molly and the whole Coldwell Banker Mountain Properties team for your steadfast support.
